The Knot and Prudence Designs create “Art Deco Glam”
Our dear friends at The Knot and Prudence created a table for their Spring Show at the New York Tabletop Building. Our creation is on view April 16-19th at 41 Madison Avenue. During the tabletop show, 9,000 attendees walk through the buidling including buyers, editors, designers.

Lawndale Garden Club is pleased to welcome Grayson Handy of Prudence Designs in New York City
to our Spring Luncheon for a floral demonstration and lecture.
“Named after the owner’s beloved dachshund, Prudence Designs continues to dazzle even their long list of “seen-it-all” editors and celebrity clients with whimsical, but elegant floral arrangements. Thinking outside the vase is what Grayson Handy and Arturo Quintero flourish on. A cluster of orange and yellow blooms and a branch of lemons get artfully put into a homey, vintage, yellow coffee can. Or modern, monochromatic buds in signature Prudence chartreuse get wrapped in coconut bark and raffia for a perfect take-away gift. The two designers are inspired as much by their surroundings as by their travels abroad, using indigenous materials and inventive color palettes. The result, never a dull “mum – ment”!”

“Good Things” for Valentine’s Day @ Prudence Designs for Martha Stewart
Sometimes you just get lucky when the right pair of eyes sees your work. Who better than the Queen herself, Martha Stewart? Martha saw our “First Crush” arrangement from our website and waved her wand to commission an exclusive one for her loyal followers. The result is a magical potion of peonies, garden roses, scabiosa, and ranunculus bordered by geranium leaves. The tree bark vase, with lovers initials etched into it, evokes memories of first loves.

Prudence Designs Shines at Everyday Health’s The Daily Glow Awards
Prudence was honored to be asked to design the decor for Everyday Health’s THE DAILY GLOW AWARD WINNERS RECOGNIZING THE MOST INNOVATIVE BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2012 at The Standard Hotel.
The Daily Glow Award is the beauty equivalent of an Oscar with judging done by a panel of industry peers of medical doctors, cosmetic chemists, top hair and makeup stylists, and new this year, Daily Glow added a holistic plastic surgeon to the judging panel. Products of all price ranges––found in drugstore aisles, department store makeup counters to physician and specialist’s formulations––are celebrated within five categories: Skin (face/body/anti-aging), Hair, Makeup, Big Breakthroughs and Beauty Insiders’ Picks.
Using the event’s branding for inspiration, Prudence created grand arrangements of hot pink floral garlands to appear as if the flowers were “raining from the sky”.
Prudence Makes The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2013 List
We are thrilled to announce that Prudence Designs & Events has made The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2013 list. The Knot is one of the few bridal magazines left on stands that offer brides complete inspiration for their big day. Over the years, Prudence has been fortunate to work with their wonderful staff to create breathtaking layouts and features. We are honored!
The MacDowell Colony 2012 Gala
Each December, The MacDowell Colony asks Prudence to design their annual gala. It is an organization very close to our hearts.
The mission of The MacDowell Colony is to nurture the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination.
Inspired by nature surrounding the colony, we dressed each table with various herb plants from local, organic growers. Mossed covered pots filled with herbs and candles created a green runner down the “family-style” table accented by pops of terra cotta atop the natural rattan tablecloths. Guests were encouraged to take the plants home as favors.
Prudence Goes Seaside in Coastal Living
When asked to do a spread for Coastal Living Magazine, we “dove in!” The inspiration for the layout was fishermen sweaters. I found wonderful “cable-knit” ceramic pots and filled them with white orchid plants. Tall glass cylinders vases were filled with water and disc candles floated above FAUX coral anchored by blue sea glass. Anthropologie had the perfect octopus patterned plates to complete our look.
